Styx Pittsburgh Concert reviews
Styx 2022
Styx put on a fantastic show! If you’ve never seen them live, do yourself a favor and catch them when they are nearby! As for the seating, our seats were terrible. We were the first row behind a walkway and people walked back and forth all evening impeding our view quite a lot. The other issue we had was there was a banner hanging on the railing in front of us that made it to where we had to sit up to look over to see Styx. Other than that, it was a very memorable experience! We WILL catch Styx again but we will either pick different seats or catch them at a different venue.
A great show!
Maybe it was the seats, maybe it's because I love this band, but this concert was really one of the best I've seen. We had pretty decent seats, row 13, dead center, and you could feel the drums, the guitar, hear the perfect harmonies, all together it made for an exciting show. AND they sang Mr. Roboto! I think this might be my 7th or 8th time seeing Styx, and only the 2nd time they sang Mr. Roboto.
Not to mention, The Venetian Theater is one of the more beautiful venues I've ever been to. If you ever get a chance to see a concert at the Venetian, run, don't walk, to get tickets. Well worth it.
Savannah is wonderful and so was Styx
First trip to Savannah and I went to see Styx. Savannah is highly recommended as well.
As for Styx - this was show 7 in 2023 for me. It was a two set performance with a 20 minute intermission.
The opening was To Those and Blue Collar Man. Chuck P has been sitting in for Lady and did in Savannah. Grand Illusion, Wonderful Life, Man in the Wilderness, Light Up and Crash of the Crown were also first set tunes, all played to perfection and a very enthusiastic crowd.
Set 2 opened with Gone Gone Gone followed by Miss America and Lorelei. Sound the Alarm, and the rest were classic ending songs for Styx in 2023: Crystal Ball, Fooling Yourself, Khedive and Lost at Sea (Lawrence and Chuck P only) and ending as always with Come Sail Away, the wonderful audience sing-a-long. Encores were as always, Mr. Roboto and Renegade.
I'd be happy to post pictures and videos, especially since I had front row seats.
Styx is the most consistent group of the hundred or so that i've seen, AC/DC to ZZTop. Never a bad show and the audience is always enthused, regardless of location.
About the location: The Savannah Civic Center (aka Johnny Mercer center) was just the right size for Styx: 9,000 or so. Another venue sold out, again. Styx just keeps clicking and all of the members seem to love to play together. Equally impressive is the fortitude of 70-something Chuck P and James 'JY' Young. Night after night and this band brings it every single time.
